Broken Glass Jello (also known as Stained Glass Jello) looks so impressive, but is really easy to make! Different colors of Jello float in a sweetened white gelatin mixture. Vary it every time by using different flavors.

This classic make-ahead dessert recipe looks so lovely on a buffet table and is always a hit at holidays, potlucks, and luncheons!

Grandma's

Ever had Broken Glass Jello? It’s a classic Kraft recipe that’s been around for decades. Isn’t it beautiful? It’s like a mosaic or church windows. Seems as though it would be a ton of work to make, but it’s so easy.

We love how sweet and light it is, fun to eat, plus so eye-catching put out on a dessert table for any occasion.

Broken Glass Jello (aka Stained Glass Jello), is different flavors of Jello cubes submerged in a condensed milk-gelatin mixture. It chills in the refrigerator until solid and then cut into squares. It’s so colorful and delicious.

Jello cubes are easy to make. IMPORTANT: You will not be following the directions on the box of Jello, which calls for more water than you need.

Also called Broken Glass Jello Dessert, this small batch recipe can be made with sweetened condensed milk or even dairy-free with coconut milk.

This retro Jello side dish and dessert is making a comeback along with other comfort foods Grandma used to make for us for holiday or family gatherings. But this is NOT Grandma's way of making it!

Grandma's Lime Green Jello Salad Recipe (with Cottage Cheese & Pineapple)

The traditional way of making the four different colors of gelatin cubes is to mix up four batches of Jello with boiling water, wait hours for them to chill and set. Then, cut them into cubes before arranging in the casserole dish and adding the creamy mixture. Wait a few more hours for that mixture to finally chill and set again.

Stained Glass Jello Salad or Broken Glass Dessert is also sometimes called Hawaiian Broken Glass or Mosaic Stained Glass Jello. It starts with colorful cubes of Jello or flavored gelatin covered with a sweetened condensed milk mixture, chilled until firm then cut into squares.

You can instantly see why it's called stained glass. Now, whether it's called a salad or a dessert gets a little more confusing. There's strong opinions on both sides of the argument. I say if it has a dollop of Cool Whip on top, it's a dessert. If not, it's a retro Jello side salad.

Champagne Jello Shots

Another one of my favorite Jello recipes is Easy Strawberry Pretzel Salad made in an 8x8-inch pan for smaller gatherings. It's easily doubled if you are going to a potluck!

This is actually a 4 ingredient recipe if you buy the multi-pack of flavored gelatin snacks..and one of those ingredients is water!

Tip: These snack packs are available in many colors and flavors and sold right next to the boxes of Jello. They are also sold in bulk in the refrigerator section near the yogurt in the grocery store so you can make a kaleidoscope Jello salad with more than four colors!

Green Jello Salad

I first made this recipe for my annual Holiday Cooking Show. I also tested it with almond milk, coconut milk and coconut sweetened condensed milk for dairy free options.

For patriotic holidays like Memorial Day weekend, 4th of July (Independence Day), and Labor Day and Veterans Day, use red Jello-O (cherry or strawberry gelatin cups) and blue Jell-O (blue raspberry gelatin cups).

This shortcut version of a vintage stained glass gelatin salad (or dessert) starts with snack pack size Jello cups. Make it a dairy free side dish and use coconut sweetened condensed milk. It's already naturally a gluten-free salad.

This patriotic version of Stained Glass Jello Salad uses snack pack size gelatin cups and sweetened condensed coconut milk to make it dairy-free.

If your'e heading to a potluck or a family get together for the holidays, simply double all the ingredients and put in a 13 x 9-inch dish. You can also use the handy tool in my printable recipe below and let it double the ingredients for you.

Absolutely. Prepare four different 3 ounce boxes of Jello gelatin in four separate small shallow containers (like Rubbermaid) according to package directions, reducing the amount of cold water added at the end to 1/2 cup instead of the full 1 cup. This makes for a more firm gelatin.

Raspberry Delight Jello

Yes, there are almost as many sugar-free flavors of gelatin in the snack packs and they trade out easily. To further reduce the sugar in this recipe, make it with milk instead of sweetened condensed milk and water.

This rainbow color recipe is perfect for a potluck, holiday dinner, small family gatherings and luncheons as a Jello side salad or dessert.

Red White And Blue Jello Cups

Nutrition analysis on recipes are mostly calculated on an online nutrition calculator. I am not a dietitian and nutritional information is an estimate and can vary based on products used.Yummy Cranberry Jello Salad with pineapple, oranges, and pecans. This amazing cranberry salad is sweet, tart, and crunchy and the beautiful color makes it a perfect addition to your holiday meal.

Turns out, I actually DO like cranberries, as long as there is enough sweetness to balance out the tartness. (Like as in a cranberry scone or white chocolate cranberry cookie.)

I’ve been on the hunt for a cranberry recipe that I had at a potluck several years ago. It was so good and completely changed my opinion on cranberry relish-type recipes.

Strawberry Slab Pie Recipe {video}

I never found out who brought the dish, so couldn’t ask how it was made. Over the years I’ve tested out a few recipes that sounded interesting, but ended up being not quite right. (One was this Cranberry Relish with Pomegranate and Orange – while delicious, it was not the one I was looking for.)

Green

After trying a few different cranberry recipes, I decided the cranberry salad I was trying to replicate had to be jello-based. After a bit of tinkering and combining recipes, I hit the jackpot!

It was so good, we could not stop eating it!!! (I am surprised there was enough left for the table by the time I finished “taste testing”.)

St. Patrick's Day Jello Cups

Yes, I recommend you put this salad together the day before (you’ll need 4 to 6 hours for the jello to set anyway.) I don’t recommend any farther ahead than 24 hours, as the salad ages, the fruit will drain liquid and will “loosen” the salad.

You can use canned pineapple in Jell-O, but not fresh. Pineapple contains an enzyme that breaks down proteins and since gelatin is made from protein, the enzyme affects Jell-O’s ability to set up. The reason you can use canned pineapple is that the canning process breaks down the enzyme. (Just make sure to drain the pineapple as well as possible.)

If you try this, my suggestion would be to break the canned cranberries up and mix in a bit more sugar. Then mix the canned sauce in with the other fruits and nuts. I would not process the canned cranberries in the food processor.

Yes, you can make this Cranberry Jell-O Salad in a mold and serve it in slices if you prefer. One thing to note is, do not use fresh
