Vitamix Smoothie Recipes Beets

How great would it be if we could all hang out in my kitchen and you could taste the recipes I post here in person? It’s one of my fondest wishes, especially when I’m making bold, borderline-suspect claims…like the fact that today’s Beet Smoothie recipe is completely delicious, and you should try it even if you don’t like beets.

A sip! Just a sip. Pretend we are in the kitchen together, and I’m offering it to you. You’ll be a Beet Smoothie believer too, I can feel it.

Since I don’t have this luxury, I’m going to call on our virtual circle of trust and assure you that this Beet Smoothie is creamy, sweet, and scrumptious.

Healthy Beet And Kale Smoothie

Like their cousins sweet potatoes and carrots, beets have a natural sweetness that makes them a good choice for dessert and breakfast endeavors (in addition to the classic Beet Salad). After having success baking with beets to make a Pink Cake (SO YUMMY), a smoothie felt like the next step.

To make this smoothie plenty sweet and not so (how do I put this delicately?) beet-y, I added plenty of other fresh ingredients:

Plus, you are receiving the wonderful benefits of the pineapples and blueberries at the same time (more vitamins! extra nutrients! anti-inflammatory! digestive support!).

Cherry Beet Detox Smoothie

To make the smoothie as fast as possible to prepare, I developed it as a raw Beet Smoothie recipe, so you don’t need to cook the beets first. I find cutting the beet into a rough dice works fine if you are using a Vitamix or similar high-powered blender.

If you are making this smoothie in a lower-powered, regular blender, I’d suggest chopping the beets more finely and adding them a little at a time.

For easy blending guaranteed, you can also make a cooked beet smoothie. Cut the beet into large chunks and steam or lightly boil the pieces until they are tender, then chill them so that your smoothie stays nice and frosty. Cooked beets last several days in the refrigerator, so you can certainly prep a few servings in advance.

Beet Smoothie (you'll Actually Love!)

I haven’t experimented with a canned beet smoothie yet, mostly because I’m not wild about the flavor of canned beets. If you are a fan, you can certainly play around with that route.

Beets go well with strawberries and banana in this smoothie, but they are mild-flavored enough to pair well with almost any fruit you happen to have on hand. Using frozen fruit gives this smoothie a nice slushy texture.

What makes this smoothie extra-special is the addition of fresh ginger. Ginger and beets are a match made in heaven, and cover up any “earthy” flavor you might otherwise taste from adding beet to a smoothie.

Tip: I freeze bananas whole, and break them up into chunks right before blending. I’ve got a whole tutorial on how to freeze bananas if you want extra guidance!

There are several potential health benefits associated with beets, so I love finding new ways to sneak them into my day. Be sure to try my favorite beet salad, too, if you haven’t yet!

Detoxifying Beet & Berry Smoothie (3 Ingredients!)

Dietary nitrate levels peak around 2 to 3 hours after consuming them, so if you’re hoping that eating beets will improve your athletic performance, it’s best to eat them 2 to 3 hours before you need that extra boost.

I only tested this recipe using fresh beets, because that’s what I have on hand most often. If you have some fresh beets that you don’t think you’ll use up right away, you can definitely freeze them for later.

When you freeze fresh beets, be sure to cut them in to chunks first, so they’ll be easy to measure out for this beet smoothie. Beet And Berry Smoothie

You might need to add a little extra liquid to the blender if using frozen beets, but you can just add that as you go, until the smoothie reaches your desired texture.

This smoothie is a great way to sneak more nutrients into your day, but it’s not hefty enough to act as a meal replacement.

If you have a high-speed blender, you don't need to chop the ginger at all before adding it into this smoothie recipe. If you don't think your blender can pulverize it completely, I'd recommend mincing it with a microplane first, so you don't wind up drinking a big chunk of ginger later.

Beet Smoothie With Blueberries

Feel free to add in any extras you like to make this smoothie more filling. You can add hemp hearts for plant-based protein, or chia seeds or ground flax for extra omega-3 fatty acids and fiber. You can also use your favorite type of milk, instead of water, for a creamier texture.
