Low Fat Creamy Avocado Dressing Recipe

Low Fat Creamy Avocado Dressing Recipe

Avocado dressing is deliciously creamy and perfect to drizzle on all your salads, macro bowls and nourish bowls. I love it on my Southwest Chicken Salad, but it’s really quite versatile. It’s also easy to make!

I put avocados on my salads 95% of the time. The healthy fats of the avocados increase the nutrient absorption from all the greens. So it’s great from a nutrition standpoint. But let’s be honest, I also do it because avocados just taste darn good.

But sometimes I’ll be in the mood for an avocado dressing rather than eating slices or chunks of avocado on my salad. And if you’ve got a mini food processor or Vitamix’s 8-oz Containers for your blender, this recipe couldn’t be easier to whip up. And bonus, the avocado dressing magically covers each piece of your salad with a little avocado goodness.

Minute Creamy Avocado Ranch Dressing

My avocado dressing includes avocados, olive oil, water, cilantro (or other herbs), lime juice, garlic, salt and pepper. It’s similar in flavor to guacamole, but is more pourable and can be drizzled on salads, macro bowls or nourish bowls.

To make the avocado dressing add all of the ingredients to a food processor (a small mini processor is best) or to the 8-oz Containers if you have a Vitamix blender. Then, pulse or blend until you have a nice, creamy consistency. That’s it! If you’d like to make your dressing thinner, just add a little more water. Enjoy!

This deliciously creamy avocado dressing is perfect for all your salads and macro bowls. Watch how I make it with my Vitamix in the video above!

Like a cross between pourable Guacamole and Avocado Dipping Sauce, this healthy creamy dressing works with leafy greens or sturdier vegetables like green beans (pictured).

Healthy Avocado Ranch Dressing

This is a dressing that uses avocado to make it creamy, rather than mayonnaise or loads of oil. It doesn’t taste very avocado-ey because avocados are dense so it needs to be thinned out to make it pourable as a dressing.

Excellent use for avocados that are a bit overripe or with brown spotty bits that don’t look appealing enough to use in salads. Use it as dressing for all your favourite salads – it’s particularly good salads that call for Ranch, Caesar or other mayo-rich dressings.

I use my Nutribullet for dressings and small batch things I blitz. One of the best value kitchen investments I’ve made. (Truth be told, I got it to make cocktails…. but now I use it practically every day for smoothies, pesto, curry pastes, dressings. So much easier to clean than blenders and food processors!)

Creamy Vegan Avocado Dressing Recipe

Use this Avocado Dressing for anything you’d dress with a creamy dressing – like Ranch, Caesar, creamy mayo dressings like used for Coleslaw. So – fresh leafy salads, cold cooked vegetables (I can’t imagine it with hot vegetables – someone could prove me wrong?), juicy fresh vegetables like tomato and cucumber are ideal.

It was a reader request – they love it, but it’s darn pricey ($7 for a small tub!), and given they have a store in my suburb, I just popped in to get a sample, then copied it.

2. Garlic - best to use a garlic crusher because it makes the minced garlic juicy which is perfect for dressings (rather than minced using a knife - garlic pieces are dry - this is perfect for high heat cooking like stir fries).

4. Storage - keeps for 3 days in the fridge, won't go brown. (Only reason I wouldn't keep for longer is the fresh garlic in the dressing - if you exclude or sub with 1/4 tsp dried garlic powder, it should be good for up to 5 days).
