Jello slime was the very first edible slime recipe that we created together as a family. At the time, slime was beginning to explode in popularity, but most were made with glue and borax.
I wanted to create a taste-safe, non-toxic slime without glue or borax so my two year old could play too. I headed over to our kitchen pantry, grabbed a few simple food ingredients, and Jello slime was born!
Lo and behold, a couple months ago I saw that JELL-O created their own edible slime mix. They sent us some to play with: JELL-O Play Unicorn Slime (strawberry flavor) and JELL-O Play Monster Slime (lime flavor).

All you have to do is mix three scoops of the JELL-O Play mix with one scoop of water and you’ve got an easy 1 ingredient slime! I think it is almost exactly like our original Jello slime that we made ourselves a couple years ago. Perhaps they got some inspiration from all of us slime bloggers out here, even if uncredited.
Zimpli Kids makes a powder called Slime Play that transforms into a squishy goo just by adding water. Slime Baff and Geli Baff videos have gotten billions of views on YouTube, so we were curious to see what all the fuss was about.
We tried their Unicorn Slime Play mix and I have to say that this is the goopiest and stretchiest of our 1 ingredient slime recipes. If you like squishy, jiggly, wiggly, more traditional slime, then this is just the thing for you!

Kids as young as preschoolers can mix this simple slime that’s come to be called “oobleck” after Dr. Seuss’ book of the same name. All you need is cornstarch and water, along with food coloring if desired.
Place the cornstarch in a large bowl and slowly add water until you reach the consistency of slime, not too watery and not too powdery. Add the food coloring and mix well, and your slime is ready to cover your kids’ hands.
The Perfect Slime Recipe. The Chemistry Behind Slime.
Not only is this one of the easiest recipes we’ve tried (and we’ve attempted quite a few), it’s also consistently made quality slime. This recipe is a culmination of experimenting with several similar concoctions and has worked best for my eight-year-old—and she can make it all on her own.
Pour the entire bottle of glue into a bowl. Fill the glue bottle halfway with warm water, and add it to the bowl. Stir until mixed well.
Next, add the baking soda, and stir well. The mixture should be well-blended and runny. Add the food coloring if desired and stir.

Squeeze the contact solution into the mixture in small amounts, stirring each time. The slime should get immediately sticky. Keep adding contact solution slowly until the slime pulls away from the sides of the bowl. Knead the slime by hand, continuing to add contact solution until the slime reaches the consistency you like.
