Frozen Wine Cocktail Recipe

Frosé cocktails made with frozen fruit and rosé wine. These refreshing grown-up slushies come together in minutes and are absolutely perfect for hot summer days. Use your favorite frozen fruit and your favorite brand of wine – there are so many options. Make ahead tips, flavor pairings, and how-to video below. Drink up. Cheers!

Hi, friends. Our temperatures are hitting triple digits this week (uggh). Good news: this means it’s Frosé season. You can find me poolside, sipping on Frosé, trying my hardest to make the best out of the fact that I live in the hottest place on earth (yes, that’s an exaggeration, but only slightly).

Frozen

This Frosé is like a grown up Icee – fruity, slightly sweet, and dangerously delicious. It comes together in minutes. Eeeeek! Let’s do it!

Frozen Peach Wine Slushy

Place the wine and frozen fruit into a blender and give it a whirl. In a matter of seconds you’ll have a boozy slushie that is ready to be poured into glasses and enjoyed. It doesn’t get much easier than that!

Just make sure you plan accordingly and already have your fruit frozen. Or, be like me and keep frozen fruit in the freezer AT ALL TIMES so you can have Frosé whenever you want. Speaking of frozen fruit, let’s talk about some flavor combos.

If you’d like to make this ahead (or you prefer it thicker), you can pour the Frosé into a freezer safe storage container and freeze for several hours. It will freeze into a thick slushy-type consistency (pictured below). You can scoop it with a spoon into glasses and top it with a splash of sparkling wine or juice to thin it out.

White Wine Slushie (5 Ingredients & 5 Minutes!)

Frosé cocktails made with frozen fruit and rosé wine. These refreshing slushies come together in minutes and are absolutely perfect for summer!

*I like to use a combination of frozen diced watermelon and frozen strawberries OR frozen sweet cherries and frozen strawberries. Play around with the fruit measurements to suit your tastes. You can add slightly more or less than 6 cups.

**If you’d prefer not to serve right away you can transfer to a freezer safe storage container and freeze for up to one week. It will thicken, so just let it thaw out a bit before serving.

And it’s so good! We just love this frozen cocktail. It’s a perfect sipper on a hot summer day.

You’ve probably had sangria or at least heard of it. A traditional wine cocktail that originated in Spain, sangria is widely offered on restaurant menus. There are lots of recipes for sangria but basically, sangria includes a dry fruity red wine, fruit juice, a sweetener, and a liqueur of some type (brandy, Cointreau). And fruit!

Sangria always has chunks of fruit floating in it. Now, I love fruit but I never quite know what to do with the fruit in sangria. Do you drink the whole drink and then chomp down the fruit? How do you fish it out of your glass? Is it even polite to eat the fruit? Maybe it’s supposed to be decorative but why waste good fruit, especially fruit that’s been soaking in a yummy drink. It’s a dilemma, admittedly not earth shaking, but still.

Frozen

Frosé Aka Frozen Rosé

That’s one of the reasons I love this frozen sangria. The fruit, in this case, mixed berries, is blended right into the drink! No more dilemma — you can just drink the fruit. I love it!

Since this is a wine-based cocktail, select the right wine. You won’t need to buy the most expensive wine but make sure it’s a fruity dry wine that you would enjoy on its own.

Have a little leftover wine? Frozen sangria is the perfect way to use it up. This recipe calls for one and a half cups.

Strawberry Prosecco Slushie Cocktail

Not sure about your wines? Some good wines for this red sangria are: Pinot Noir (that’s what we use), Rioja, Grenache (Garnacha), Merlot, Tempranillo, or Zinfandel (not white zinfandel).

You’ll need a blender to make this frozen concoction. Added to the wine in the blender is a whole 16 oz. bag of frozen mixed berries. The mix I buy includes strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries. Use whatever combination you like best. Maybe you freeze your own berries. Perfect! What a great way to use those frozen berries.

Frozen

In addition to the berries (think of all those antioxidants!), add a whole peeled orange and a dash of lime juice. This is one fruity drink! Sweeten it to taste with a little honey or sugar.

Frosé ( Frozen Rose Wine Recipe )

Fortify the mixture with a fourth-cup Cointreau, an orange liqueur. You could also use brandy, or a different type of orange liqueur such as triple sec, curaçao, or Grand Marnier. Add a little ice and you’re ready to go.

Get the blender whirring, find some pretty glasses, and enjoy your frozen sangria! You’ll want to serve it immediately because frozen slushies don’t stay frozen forever, especially on a warm summer day.

Serve frozen sangria with a basket of tortilla chips and homemade pico de gallo. Or go a little fancier, and make this fresh tomato tart with ricotta for a perfect sunny pool side appetizer.

Red White And Blue Wine Slushies

While this frozen sangria recipe is best served immediately, if you have a pitcher of regular sangria with fruit, it can be frozen for up to a couple of months. If you prefer, leave the fruit out and add more fruit after the sangria has thawed.

Three

Since it’s fortified with brandy or orange liqueur, sangria can contain more alcohol than plain wine, which usually has about 12% alcohol content.

Make your own signature frozen sangria slushie. The flavor of your frozen sangria will depend greatly on the type of wine you choose, how much sweetener you add, and whether you use orange liqueur or brandy, or leave it out entirely.

Red Wine Frozen Sangria (mixed Berry)

Using different combinations of berries, or just one kind of berry, will give you exciting flavor variations. Try a couple of tangerines instead of an orange. Or make white frozen sangria using white wine and frozen tropical fruit blends.

Cool off with more summer drinks! I have lots of icy drink ideas for you to try, with or without alcohol. Try:
