This is our favorite Papa C drinks recipe of all time. My hubby's homemade apple pie moonshine will warm you up, make you popular -- and probably clear your sinuses too, if you make his 78-proof version.
You can make this easy moonshine recipe as strong or weak as you like, and even accommodate more than one preference from the same batch. And, you can throw this together in five minutes, before letting it sit overnight.
Apple Pie Moonshine Cocktail Recipe
This is a strong apple pie moonshine recipe (78 proof) that can be diluted by adding extra apple juice concentrate (and cinnamon sticks for flavor). Here's how to dial down the potency of the baseline recipe by various notches. If you need to accommodate more than one tolerance level, you can start with a stronger proof and add some apple cider to individual servings as needed.
As a lightweight, I can only take small sips of the 78-proof moonshine. It tastes like apple, cinnamon, a hint of brown sugar and alcohol…lots and lots of alcohol!
It's best to store the moonshine in the refrigerator, but technically, a higher-proof version could stay at room temperature because the high alcohol content preserves it. We keep ours in the refrigerator and serve it chilled.
Grandma's Apple Pie 'ala Mode' Moonshine Recipe
Flavored moonshine such as this will eventually go bad. Strong apple pie moonshine can keep for years, but anything less than 64 proofwill need to be refrigerated and consumed within three months.
Heating moonshine will cause some of the alcohol to evaporate, plus it's potentially dangerous. If you want to serve this warm, heat some plain apple cider, then off the heat, add an equal amount of apple pie moonshine.

Here are the adjustments for less potent versions: 64 Proof: Use 3 (12-ounce) cans frozen apple juice concentrate and add an extra ½ stick of cinnamon. 55 Proof: Use 4 (12-ounce) cans frozen apple juice concentrate and 1 extra cinnamon stick. 47.5 Proof: Use 5 (12-ounce) cans frozen apple juice concentrate and 1 ½ extra cinnamon sticks. 42 Proof: Use 6 (12-ounce) cans frozen apple juice concentrate and 2 extra cinnamon sticks. 38 Proof: Use 7 (12-ounce) cans frozen apple juice concentrate and 2 ½ extra cinnamon sticks. If serving people with various tolerance levels, you can add apple cider to individual servings to dial down the potency as needed.

Back in 2012, I discovered Midnight Moon Moonshine. I bought 2 jars of the Cherry moonshine. One to gift and one for us. It may or may not have caused a ruckus among my girlfriends and I!! A couple of years ago I began adding in apple chunks for some extra flavor. It's not necessary, I just like doing it. After the mixture has cooled the apple chunks are very soft, I mash them right the liquid with a potato masher, then strain the liquid out into another pot before adding in the Everclear. Press on the solids so they release all of their juice.
Everclear is the original high proof grain alcohol spirit sold commercially. It has legions of fans for using it for homemade moonshine recipes, and other libations. Depending on your state, Everclear proof can be just under 100, 151 or even 190 proof. This is not a spirit to drink on its own. You always need to mix it to dilute.

You can certainly make this stronger, just add in another half-bottle (or less) of Everclear, or make it weaker by adding some extra cider. Play with it to get the bite/flavor you desire. I wanted it to taste less like pure alcohol, so this is the recipe I stick with. Plus this way - no one is fallin' on the floor!! Lol!

Like many good things, this moonshine gets better with time. To enjoy the full flavor, I recommend making this at least two weeks before you plan on drinking it. Just be sure to sip slowly because even though it tastes sweet and cozy, it’s a strong drink!
While most apple pie moonshine is made with just apple cider, apple juice, and grain liquor, I chose the sweeter route, turning this into A La Mode Apple Pie Moonshine, with the addition of caramel vodka and vanilla vodka. The vanilla and caramel really add a delicious twist. To me, this really does taste like a slice of apple pie served with some vanilla ice cream!
