Gluten-Free noodles, frozen edamame, shredded carrots, watercress (substitute spinach or bok choy) & sesame seeds all tossed in a 3-ingredient dressing… simple, cozy and delish!

Minute

A quick note on watercress. It is not a green I normally eat which is why I love it so much in this dish!

It has a peppery almost spicy taste to it but wilted and mixed with the asian dressing it’s a perfect pairing and unbelievably delicious!

Some of my grocery stores sell it in a bunch, others loose. If you can’t find it, feel free to substitute spinach or another green — I have been loving it with bok choy lately.

The edamame and carrots cook up with the pasta. (see note below, if using bok choy or a similar hearty green, I also cook it with the pasta)

Then, after reserving some pasta water, everything is drained into a colander than tossed back into the cooking pot where all the other ingredients are mixed in.

A quick update.… when using a hardy green such as bok choy which has been my go to lately, cook the bok choy with the pasta at the same time as the edamame and carrots. Then just toss with the sauce, green onions, sesame seeds and serve!

These Asian-inspired Noodles are a super quick, easy and delicious gluten-free dish. It requires only one pan and 15 minutes.. that's it! And it's packed with flavor.

This recipe is perfect for a busy weeknight when you need dinner on the table fast and can be made vegan and gluten-free.

When I want dinner on the table fast, noodles are always my go-to. Asian noodle recipes make for a perfect quick and easy meal with minimal clean-up. I’m especially a fan of 15-minute noodle recipes like my Sesame Ginger Noodles and Teriyaki Noodles because what could be better than a meal ready in just 15 minutes?

Garlic Noodles are an Asain Fusion dish that originated in the 1970s by chef Helen An who worked at Thanh Long restaurant in San Fransisco.

Asian Garlic Noodles (20 Minute Recipe!)

The dish is made by stir-frying noodles together with garlic, oyster sauce and a variety of other ingredients to give the dish an umami flavour. There are many different variations of the dish, some made with butter, brown sugar and parmesan cheese and others made without these ingredients. The key is to have a salty, sweet and savoury element in the dish.

This recipe for Asian Garlic Noodles is made to be a simple and healthy recipe featuring garlic, green onions and an Asian stir-fry sauce.

For this recipe, I use brown rice spaghetti which is made from rice but has the same texture as wheat spaghetti. Rice spaghetti has more of a bite to it and that al dente texture than typical Asian rice noodles, which is delicious for this recipe, but you can really use any kind of noodles.

Quick Fix Asian Noodle Recipes

Cook the noodles according to package directions. Once the noodles are cooked, heat the oil in a large skillet then add the garlic and scallions and cook for 1-2 minutes until browned. Then add in the noodles

Easy

You can optionally serve these noodles with some sesame seeds and chilli flakes on top which is delicious. You can also serve this with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese, (for a vegetarian version) which may sound odd but trust me, is delicious!

Store any leftover noodles in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. Reheat the noodles in the microwave or in a pan on the stovetop. If the noodles stick together when reheating, add a small splash of water to the noodles to help them separate.

Some great vegetables to add to these noodles are bok choy, Chinese broccoli, broccoli, spinach, kale, shredded carrots, bean sprouts, red bell pepper and mushrooms.

You can find oyster sauce at most large chain grocery stores in the Asian section or at your local Asian supermarket. You can also order oyster sauce online from amazon.

What’s more, you can easily make this recipe vegan by using vegan friendly oyster sauce, or make it gluten free by using gluten free spaghetti and gluten free soy sauce.

Crazy Good Quick Garlic Noodles Recipe

Chinese style stir fry noodles should be al dente (instead of soft or soggy), and coated with its classic savory sauce. Spaghettis won’t turn soggy or sticky too easily, and they can hold the sauce on its surface very well. Therefore spaghetti is a perfect substitution of chow mein to make Chinese style stir fry noodles.

Middle joint of your thumb, you are holding two servings of spaghetti; with your index tip touching the tip of your thumb, you are holding three servings of spaghetti.

However, this method could only roughly measure the servings, because different people would of course have different hand sizes. I do have relevantly small hands. If you have large hands, you may want to reduce some amount of spaghetti starting from my measuring method.

Of course, you can also measure the spaghetti with a kitchen scale. When you serve spaghetti as the main course, one serving of dry or uncooked spaghetti should be about 113g, two servings 225g, three servings 338g, four servings 450g.

– Sugar: for a subtle sweet taste. Do not skip if you want to create an authentic Chinese stir fry noodle flavor.

– Light soy sauce: for a savory flavor. Light soy sauce is golden brown in color and rich in taste to add flavor during marinating and seasoning stage.

– Dark soy sauce: for a brown and shiny look. Dark soy sauce is used to add deep colors to meat stews and casseroles and often paired with light soy sauce to achieve the perfect taste and color.

– Oyster sauce: for a rich and complex caramelized savory flavor. Oyster sauce is so often used in Chinese stir fry dishes. Vegetarian version of oyster sauce is made from mushrooms. Other than that, it’s hard to find another substitution of oyster sauce. You may try using hoisin sauce instead if you can’t find oyster sauce anywhere.

– Chinkiang vinegar: for boosting the smell of stir fry spaghetti. One tablespoon of vinegar won’t make your noodles taste sour, since most of the vinegar will evaporate during the process of stir frying, at the same time, creating a special wonderful smell in Chinese restaurant. If you can’t find Chinkiang vinegar, you can use other black rice vinegar, or even cooking wine as a substitution. Because the cooking wine will also evaporate and make your stir fry spaghetti smell more like an authentic Chinese dish.

– Sesame oil: for preventing from sticking and the nutty smell. The last thing you want to see when making stir fry noodles is the noodles sticking together. Buy coating the noodles with a layer of sesame oil, you can not only boost the smell of this dish, but also effectively prevent them from sticking together.

In this way, you can have plenty of time to evenly coat the noodles with the sauce, without worrying about burning the vegetables or oil splashing.

The order of adding the seasonings isn’t that important, but I’d suggest you to measure dry seasonings (such as sugar) first, so that you can keep using the same measuring spoon for liquid seasonings. Then measure oil before oyster sauce, so that the oyster sauce won’t stick to your measuring spoon (thanks to the residual oil on the spoon).

Easy Asian Noodles Recipe

I like to add a lot of vegetables to my stir fry spaghetti, not only to make this dish healthier for my long-life-husband goal, but also to make my noodle stir fry more colorful and richer in texture.

Easy

My rule of rule of thumb is adding vegetables that are safe to eat raw (since we will only stir fry them for a very short time), and don’t contain too much water
