Easy Apple Crisp Recipe {amish Apple Goodie}
To start, I grease a 9×13 baking dish with butter. Then I slice the sandwich bread into 1 inch cubes and distribute evenly in the baking dish.
In a bowl, I mix together the chopped apples, melted butter, brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg and lemon juice and then sprinkle the apple mixture over the bread in the baking dish.
In another bowl, I whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract and pour the egg mixture over the apples and bread in the baking dish ensuring everything is covered with it. I then cover and chill it overnight if making this ahead of time.

To bake, I preheat the oven to 350F and remove the casserole from the fridge. In a small bowl, I mix the softened butter, brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon and then crumble it over the french toast bake. It bakes for 45-50 minutes or until the top turns a nice golden brown.
