Many of us have been eating this Buffalo Chicken Dip at parties for years. But have you tried making it yourself yet?

Simple Buffalo Chicken Dip

True confession, it also make a great dinner. It’s got all the necessary ingredients, shredded chicken, cheese…and serve it up with some bread and carrots, well, you’ve got a meal in my book!

When it comes to dips and snacks, having something that you know your friends and family will devour is important. I mean, unless you want to be stuck with leftovers (well, actually that’s not always a bad thing).

It’s also always gone in minutes. Before it even has a chance to cool down. You’re literally burning your mouth while you eat it, haha!

First, you need cooked chicken. I usually cook up some shredded chicken in my slow cooker. Place 1 pound in the crockpot and cook on high for 4 hours, or low for 6 hours. No liquids needed, just salt and pepper.

When the chicken is done, you can shred it with two forks. Or, for perfect shredded chicken, use your mixer for about 15 seconds and it will shred up nicely.

Add your softened cream cheese, sour cream, buffalo sauce (Frank’s Red Hot Buffalo sauce is my favorite), and one cup of shredded cheddar cheese. Mix all of that together.

Buffalo Chicken Dip (crock Pot Or Baked)

Place in a small, oven safe dish (about 1.5qt size). Sprinkle a little extra cheddar over the top (because, duh, more cheese!!!!).

Bake your Buffalo Chicken Dip in a 350 degree F oven for about 15-20 minutes, uncovered, until the cheese is golden, and mixture is bubbly! Once it’s done, drizzle a little blue cheese dressing over the top (or Ranch dressing if you prefer).

Buffalo Style Chicken Dip

To make this recipe, we have all the usual suspects: cream cheese, buffalo sauce, cheddar cheese, and ranch. Yum, yum, yum, and yum! There’s also cooked, shredded chicken, which can be homemade, rotisserie, or even from a can. Your call!

Yes! In fact, that is the kind of buffalo sauce that I used when I made this recipe. But if you have another brand of buffalo sauce that you like, you can use that too.

Easy

The easiest way to soften cream cheese is simply to let it sit on the counter at room temperature until it is soft. This usually takes 2-3 hours, but it does require a bit of planning.

Frank's Redhot® Buffalo Chicken Dip Recipe

The other way to soften cream cheese is in the microwave. It’s quick, it’s simple – but it is also a touch tricky because you need to pay attention and not get distracted by other things. 🙂 Simply unwrap your block of cream cheese and place it on a microwave safe plate. Then microwave it at 50% power in 5 second intervals, flipping the cream cheese over every 10 seconds until it has softened.

Okay, get ready. This awesome dip is crazy easy to make! All you have to do is saute the garlic, and then melt everything all together. Don’t you just love it when something so delicious is also so easy? A total FRIDAY recipe.

When it comes to serving dip, I’m a major fan of all kinds of dippers! Celery sticks and tortilla chips are just the beginning! There are truly tons of great options. Here are a few to get you started!

Ingredient Buffalo Chicken Dip

This dip gets its namesake from the buffalo wing sauce, and for good reason – it has all the heat and flavor from the classic sauce that’s earned mass appeal. It’s a vinegar-based sauce made with melted butter and spices (like cayenne pepper), and when combined with savory chicken, cheese, and ranch dressing, you’ve got a combination that’s hard to stop eating.

Plus, you don’t need to be a heat lover to enjoy this dip. When served with crisp green veggies like celery or cucumbers, the heat is dialed down a tad, making it easier for all guests to enjoy the flavor.

The absolute best part of whipping up a hot and bubbly cheesy dip is that it’s quick and easy. But, if you’re anything like me, it’s not every day that you have cooked chicken in your kitchen, and especially on short notice. Leftover rotisserie chicken is another great option for this recipe, but again, it’s not like you’ll always find yourself with some extra rotisserie chicken lying around.
